Here's my response to the speculation about episode 2 around the net (this was written in 1999). I've been hearing things like there's going to be a love triangle, Boba actually plays a big part in the clone wars, and some other crap. Read what I have to say about these rumors.

I almost like the love triangle. well, not totally. I always got the impression that Obi would be there for Luke and Leia's mother(now we know who it is) once Anakin split and went nuts or whatever. I don't buy that Sidious and Palpatine are 2 different people. Face it, it's the same actor, same character, McCullam said so! I don't like the idea of the Clone Wars having anything to do with Maul or Ep 1. I hope we've seen the last of Maul, people are just trying to bring him back like Boba. I always pictured the Clone Wars being clones of jedis trying to make clones of themselves so they wouldn't die out.

Did you ever hear the speculation about Ben Kenobi being the original and Obi-Wan(OB-1) being a clone designation? I don't think that Sidious/Palpatine will have the knowledge or the need for Shmi at all, so I don't think that will really happen with him trying to clone her. I do think she'll be dead when he gets there, or maybe she gets killed in front of him after he saves her?

Here's the full rundown for Ep 2 based on what I've been saying with my friend for the past couple of years: Obi-wan is now training Anakin against Yoda's wishes, but with the approval of the council. During this time he matures and gets closer with Amidala and Obi-wan. I don't know if you've read the book yet, but Obi isn't too fond of Anakin throughout the story it seemed. So they finally get closer. I never had to think about the whole 3po/Shmi thing being on Tatooine until this movie, so I'm not quite sure what to make of that. I don't think the emperor/palpatine/whoever should have anything to do with the death of shmi. Then Anakin would totally be against him and he would never want to join him.

What would be cool is if Anakin goes back before the council, still with the fate of his mother in mind and they reject him to continuing training or something because of it. At this point, Palpatine steps in and says he can help him because they won't. This is where he gets his initial influence on Anakin. Then Palpatine starts making Anakin go away a lot and confusing his mind, etc. While he's gone, Obi steps in with Amidala who might be pregnant now? If it ends with a wedding, maybe she won't be until some time in 3?

I've always read that Boba never had anything actually to do with the clone wars, but that he wore the outfits that were worn by "the great warriors of past time" or something. That's the way it's been in all the bio's about him and stuff. So I can't imagine why he now gets worked into being with them except for maybe because Lucas can get more money if they showcase a commercially profitable character.

I'm not sure what to do about the clone wars still. I guess it might translate into an early form of stormtroopers or something. As Palpatine is getting further into power throughout the movie, he's bribing senators and leaders from other planets to give out who the jedi's are on their planets. Because at this point, jedi's are known as protectors and peaceful representatives and are respected by people on the planets. But the senators start giving them away to Palpatine and he starts sending out these mass amounts of troops to kill them all. Tthe Mandalores might be some big organized syndicate or something, but maybe act as a third party in all of this. So it comes down to huge amounts of jedis vs. some type of cloned warriors vs. mandalores.

So in the third movie, Anakin is drifting further away from Amidala and Obi, and doesn't know that she is pregnant. Obi has gotten a lot closer and Anakin is fed up. Pushed by Palpatine, Anakin goes after Shmi or Amidala, and Obi steps in? Or maybe he just goes after Obi. They fight and Obi pushes Anakin into a pit of lava, takes his saber and leaves him to die. That's why he hands luke "his fathers lightsaber". Palpatine's assistants or himself, pulls anakin out. He's obviously messed up with most of his body burned off and requires a breathing mechanism to live. The emperor chooses that specific costume to psychologically push him further towards the dark side. At that point, he can't escape who he is in the suit or he will die, and completely loses himself. And that's what I think.
